| 1. Introduction The Career and Performance Development Scheme (CPDS) is part of our DITL’s commitment to achieving the ‘best working environment’ for all staff. This means a working environment where we have the guidance and feedback necessary to perform in our work and professional activities and get appropriate career advice and opportunities. The CPDS enables the needs of each staff members to be identified and plans established to meet their needs in the context of our common DITL goals. This booklet explains the framework of the CPDS and the phases of the process as well as outlining the roles and responsibilities of both supervisors and staff members. 1.1 The Aims of the Career and Performance Development Scheme The CPDS provides a supporting framework for your work and professional practice at ANU. While it is important that all staff at ANU receive ongoing guidance and feedback in their role, you are formally required to participate in the CPDS if you are:
1.3 Your Probation Period The period of probation is a time when you will talk to your supervisor about your position and the standards expected of you, work with new colleagues and obtain information about ANU procedures and processes. It is a time for you to adjust and learn and is therefore treated separately for the purposes of performance and development.
